米国で、地球外知的生命体探索用の光学望遠鏡が完成したそうです。ここではこのニュースに関する語句や表現を少しだけ φ( ・・ )ｶｷｶｷ してみようと思います。
惑星協会という米国のとある組織が、地球外知的生命体を探索するための光学望遠鏡を完成させたらしい。

The telescope was allegedly designed to search for light signals from alian civilizations.
SETI は Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence の略です。
SETI is an acronym for Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence.
acronym = a word formed from the first letters of the words that make up the name of sth, for example "Aids" is an acronym for "acquired immune defeciency syndrome."

北海道のとある夫婦が、４日間のレンタル契約期間後もレンタカーを返さず、５ヶ月間料金も払わず乗り回していたらしい。
A couple in Hokkaido allegedly used a rented car without payment for about five months after their four day rental contract expired.

※announced が過去形なので will も would になるのかと思ったのですが will のままでした。
